About Simon
I am a Canadian architect, photographer, and educator, currently located in Copenhagen. After relocating to Europe, I joined the innovative office of SAGA Space Architects as a Senior Architect. SAGA is a multidisciplinary practice, designing the built environment for people to thrive both on Earth and in outer space.
Over the past fifteen years, I have had the opportunity to work with internationally recognized practices including OMA, Skidmore, Owings & Merrill (SOM), Coop Himmelb(l)au, and 3XN, contributing to projects across a wide range of scales and contexts. My work has encompassed design leadership, research and innovation, material exploration, and interdisciplinary collaboration, complemented by earlier experience running my own architectural practice in Canada. After spending nine inspiring years in San Francisco, I returned to Europe to live in one of my favourite cities in the world.
Alongside architecture, I maintain a parallel creative practice in photography, film, and visual arts. These disciplines continually inform my approach to design, storytelling, composition, and the experience of space.
For seven years, I taught architecture at the Academy of Art University in San Francisco while maintaining my professional practice. I also have teaching experience at Ball State University, McGill University, and the University of Waterloo. My teaching emphasizes design rigor, critical thinking, and the development of versatile design skills grounded in both theory and practice.
I hold a Bachelor of Architectural Studies, a Masters of Architecture, and a registered architecture license. During my graduate studies, I was awarded the AIA Henry Adams Medal and the RAIC Gold Medal in recognition of graduating at the top of my class.
